Using Unloc on Apple Watch
This guide explains how to operate locks using the Unloc app on your Apple Watch.
Opening the app
Open Unloc on your Apple Watch by tapping the app icon on your home screen, or use Siri by saying "Open Unloc."
Viewing your doors
When you open the app, you'll see a list of your favorite doors displayed in a carousel view. Swipe up or down to scroll
through your doors.
Each door shows:
- The door name
- A door image (if available)
- Action buttons (Open/Close)
- A status icon indicating key availability
Opening a door
To open a door:
- Find the door in your list
- Tap the "Open" button
- Wait for the operation to complete
The watch will show a progress screen while connecting to the lock. Once successful, you'll see a confirmation. Tap "Done"
to return to your door list.
Closing a door
Some locks support closing. If available, you'll see a "Close" button next to the Open button.
To close a door:
- Find the door in your list
- Tap the "Close" button
- Wait for the operation to complete
If you don't see a Close button, the lock either doesn't support closing or is a lock type that only supports opening.
Understanding status icons
Each door displays a status icon that tells you about key availability:
Icon color | Meaning |
|
|---|---|---|
Gray | Key is valid and ready to use |
|
Orange | Key expires soon — consider refreshing |
|
Red | Key expired or internet connection required |
|
Tap the status icon to see more details, including the exact time remaining for expiring keys.
Viewing key details
To see detailed information about a door's key status:
- Tap the status icon next to the door
- A dialog appears showing the current status
- For Bluetooth locks, you'll see how much time remains before the key expires
The dialog also provides a "Refresh" button if you need to update your key data.
Tips for reliable operation
Get close to the lock: For Bluetooth locks, stand within a few meters of the door
Wait for completion: Don't close the app until you see the success or error screen
Check your connection: For IP-operated locks, make sure your watch has internet access
Keep keys fresh: Refresh Bluetooth lock keys before they expire, especially if you'll be without internet
