Troubleshooting error-codes

Written by Aksel

When something goes wrong, the Unloc app shows an error code. Find your code below and work through the steps in order — most problems are solved by the first two or three.

Tip: Many errors are caused by a weak Bluetooth connection. Standing close to the lock and restarting Bluetooth fixes most of them.

1011 / 1020 – Weak Bluetooth signal

The app and the lock couldn't connect over Bluetooth in time.

  1. Stand close to the lock and try again.

  2. Check that the Unloc app has the access it needs: open Settings in the app and select Access. All items should be green.

  3. Turn Bluetooth off and on again.

  4. Restart your phone.

If none of this helps, the lock may have a power problem. Contact the person who manages the door.

1022 – Weak Bluetooth signal

The app and the lock couldn't connect over Bluetooth in time.

  1. Stand close to the lock and try again.

  2. Turn Bluetooth off and on again.

  3. Restart your phone.

If none of this helps, the lock may have a power problem. Contact the person who manages the door.

1997 – No mobile data or location services

The app can't reach the internet or your location.

  1. Check your internet connection.

  2. Turn on mobile data and turn Wi-Fi off.

In some places you need mobile coverage to use the app. If you're in a garage, open the Unloc app outside first so it can download your key, then go back in.

1998 – Unstable connection to the lock

Communication between the lock and Unloc was uneven.

  1. Stand close to the lock and try again.

  2. Turn Bluetooth off and on again.

  3. Restart your phone.

6203 / 6208 / 6404 – Uneven signal between lock and app

  1. Make sure you're standing at the right door.

  2. Start opening the door in the app 1–2 metres away, then move your phone slowly towards the lock.

  3. Tap the lock with your phone.

  4. Restart the app.

  5. Restart your phone.

6400 – Phone must touch the lock

This lock needs direct contact with your phone.

  1. Tap the lock with your phone.

  2. If that doesn't work, restart your phone and try again.

6414 – Wrong key for this lock

The app couldn't authenticate with the lock. This usually means you're using a key that belongs to a different lock. Check that you've selected the right door in the app.

7103 / 7911 / 7913 – Tap again

  1. Tap the lock with your phone again and press Open.

9001 – Lock's Wi-Fi connection is unstable

Some locks talk to Unloc over Wi-Fi. This code means the lock is struggling to keep a stable connection.

  1. On your phone, turn Wi-Fi off and use mobile data (4G/5G).

  2. Make sure the lock has a good Wi-Fi signal. Restart the router by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

If the problem continues, contact us.

Still not working?

  • Contact support: tap Help in the app. On a computer, use the chat bubble in the lower right corner.

  • Use your backup: open the door with a regular key, key card or similar, or ask someone nearby (a neighbour or colleague) to let you in.
